In January 2019, as one of the founding members, the HKMA and an international group of 28 financial regulators and related organisations formally established GFIN, an initiative aiming at creating a framework for collaboration among financial services regulators on innovation-related topics. The network has continued to grow since then, establishing connections between more than 60 organisations as of November 2020. As an effort to facilitate financial innovation around the globe, a cross-border testing pilot has been launched for firms that wish to test innovative products, services or business models across international markets.
