Hong Kong’s Latest Foreign Currency Reserve Assets Figures Released

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (Thursday) that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$491.6 billion as at the end of December 2020 (end-November 2020: US$485.7 billion) (Annex).

There were no unsettled foreign exchange contracts at end-December 2020 and end-November 2020.

The total foreign currency reserve assets of US$491.6 billion represent about seven times the currency in circulation or 48% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
