Hong Kong’s Latest Foreign Currency Reserve Assets Figures Released

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (Tuesday) that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$445.9 billion as at the end of June 2020 (end-May 2020: US$442.4 billion) (Annex).

Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong at the end of June 2020 amounted to US$444.8 billion (end-May 2020: US$440.9 billion).

The total foreign currency reserve assets of US$445.9 billion represent over six times the currency in circulation or about 46% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
