Laws of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on the Internet

I am writing to inform you that the Laws of HKSAR may now be accessed through the Internet. Statutory Laws including the Banking Ordinance and its subsidiary legislation are available both in English and Chinese for access by the general public free of charge through the Bilingual Laws Information System (BLIS) developed by the Department of Justice (DoJ). The BLIS may be accessed directly or via the homepage of the DoJ using a Web Browser software (e.g. Microsoft Explorer and Netscape Navigator). A Chinese Operating System (e.g. Chinese Windows 3.1 or 95) is required to access the database in Chinese language. The Internet website addresses of the BLIS are as follows:

www.justice.gov.hk (direct access)

www.info.gov.hk/justice/laws/index.htm(access through DoJ's homepage)

The database maintained by the BLIS is regularly updated by the DoJ. However, users are cautioned that the Internet version of the Laws is not to be relied on as an authentic version of the law. Although every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the data, for authentic versions of the Laws of Hong Kong, users should refer to the official publications of the Hong Kong Government Printer. A leaflet providing a brief description about BLIS is enclosed for your information.

If you need information or have any question about BLIS, please contact the DoJ:

by E-mail: blis@justice.gcn.gov.hk

or

by fax: (852) 2862 5455 or (852) 2536 8506
