The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (18 April) that the Financial Secretary, on the advice of the Governance Sub-Committee of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, has approved the appointment of Mr Kenneth Hui as Executive Director (External) with effect from 24 April 2023. Mr Hui will succeed Mr Darryl Chan who was appointed as Deputy Chief Executive with effect from 1 November 2022.
Mr Hui joined the HKMA as Senior Manager (Market Development) in February 2017 and has taken up his current role of Head (Market Development) since March 2020 with responsibilities in the formulation and implementation of various initiatives to promote the development of Hong Kong’s financial sector. On appointment as Executive Director (External), Mr Hui will be responsible for promoting the development of Hong Kong as an international financial centre, advancing Mainland-Hong Kong financial cooperation, and overseeing the HKMA’s participation in international forums and organisations.
