    Hong Kong’s second note-issuing bank, the Chartered Mercantile Bank of India, London & China (later renamed The Mercantile Bank Limited) opens a branch in Hong Kong and starts issuing notes.

  • 1893

    It ceases to issue notes.

  • 1912

    It resumes issuing notes.

  • 1974

    It stops issuing notes.
