HKMA Releases the Guidelines on Auditor’s Report for Application for Certification of Funds for Carried Interest Tax Concession

Following its issuance of the guideline on certification of funds for carried interest tax concession on 16 July 2021, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) issued today (31 August) guidelines on the auditor’s report for application for certification of funds (Auditor’s Report Guidelines).

To apply for certification, a fund has to submit to the HKMA, amongst other documents, an auditor’s report to assist the HKMA in determining whether a fund has invested in a private company. The Auditor’s Report Guidelines set out the requirements and other matters in relation to the auditor’s report.  Meanwhile, the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) has issued a circular to provide guidance to practitioners in preparing an auditor’s report.

The Auditor’s Report Guidelines and the circular are available at the HKMA’s website and the HKICPA’s website, respectively.
