Hong Kong’s Latest Foreign Currency Reserve Assets Figures Released

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today  (Wednesday) that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$301.7 billion as at the end of October 2012 (end-September 2012: US$301.2 billion) (Annex).

Including unsettled forward contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong at the end of October 2012 stood at US$302.4 billion (end-September 2012: US$301.2 billion).

The total foreign currency reserve assets of US$301.7 billion represent over eight times the currency in circulation or about 54% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
