Last Chance of Application for 1997 Commemorative Gold Coins - the "MoneyWorld Asia Hong Kong '97" Exhibition

Collectors interested in buying the Government 1997 Commemorative Gold Coin will have a last chance to apply for the coin this weekend.

Applications for the 1997 Commemorative Gold Coin will be accepted at the MoneyWorld Asia exhibition to be held at the Convention & Exhibition Centre, Wanchai, from 23 to 25 May (Friday to Sunday).

Application forms for the gold coin will be available at the exhibition booth of the Royal Canadian Mint - the manufacturer of the 22 carat gold coin. Applicants should bring along a personal cheque or a cashier's order of $3,988 to the booth to apply for the gold coin.

The gold coin will be individually numbered and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. The global issue limit for the coin is 97,000 pieces and the allocation for Hong Kong is 69,000. A ballot will be drawn in case of over-subscription. Successful applicants will be able to collect the gold coin starting on 8 July 1997.

Applications via the 10 branches of the Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd which started on 8 May will end at noon on 24 May (Saturday).
