The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) would like to alert members of the public to forged HKMA documents:
- A forged HKMA notice, claiming that a firm had been instructed to join the e-HKD Pilot Programme, and the firm would distribute funds in the form of e-HKD through its mobile application, as well as issue “e-HKD bank cards” to shareholders. The HKMA clarifies that the document is forged. The HKMA makes announcements on all firms participating in the e-HKD Pilot Programme, and the public may refer to the current list of participating firms on the HKMA website;
- A leaflet with the HKMA logo about the Stablecoins Ordinance, which is not issued by the HKMA. The HKMA wishes to remind the public that they should refer to information published on the HKMA website in relation to the regulatory regime for stablecoin issuers.
Members of the public who suspect that they have become victims of any fraudulent acts should contact the Police or the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012 for follow-up actions and investigation by the Police.
