The Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the three note-issuing banks (Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited) today (Wednesday) announced that the HK$20 banknotes of the three note-issuing banks and HK$100 banknotes of HSBC will go into circulation on 11 January 2012. With the issuance of these new banknotes, the entire 2010 Series Hong Kong Banknotes will be in circulation.
These new banknotes will be available for exchange at branches of the three note-issuing banks starting from 11 January 2012, together with new notes of other denominations, to meet demand for notes as lai-see.
