HKMA Quarterly Bulletin (November 2001 Issue)

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) today (30 November) published the latest issue of its Quarterly Bulletin. This issue contains feature articles on:

  • Cost-Benefit Analysis of Developing Debt Markets - discussing the rationale for developing the Hong Kong debt market from the perspectives of macroeconomic stability and microeconomic efficiency.
  • Sources of Unemployment: Recent Developments and Prospects - examining two broad sources of unemployment in Hong Kong in recent years: the natural rate of unemployment and the cyclical condition of the economy.
  • Turnover of Foreign Exchange and Derivatives Market in Hong Kong - highlighting detailed results of the global Triennial Survey of Foreign Exchange and Derivatives Market Activity, with analysis and country comparison.

The Bulletin also carries a Supervisor's Memo on large exposures and risk concentration policy, and regular articles on the banking and monetary environment during the third quarter of 2001.
