Launch of the HKMA's Exhibition "Money in Hong Kong"

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority's (HKMA) exhibition, "Money in Hong Kong 2001", was formally opened today (Saturday) at New Town Plaza, Sha Tin, by the Chief Executive of the HKMA, Mr Joseph Yam.

The aim of the exhibition is to foster communication between the HKMA and the general public and to promote public awareness of Hong Kong's monetary and banking systems. Senior HKMA executives, led by Mr Yam, attended the Exhibition's opening today.

The HKMA Exhibition will be held at three different locations, running from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. The first exhibition is being held at the New Town Plaza until tomorrow (22 July). The other venues will be Pacific Place (from 27 to 29 July) and Plaza Hollywood, Diamond Hill (from 3 to 5 August).

At the launch of the exhibition today, Mr Yam also presented prizes to the winners of a radio quiz on financial and monetary issues held from 2 to 20 July on RTHK Channel 2.

The exhibition is accompanied by demonstrations on identifying counterfeit banknotes conducted by representatives of the Commercial Crime Bureau which will be held on every Saturday and Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the exhibition.
