Senior Appointments at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority

The Financial Secretary has approved the appointment of Mr Eddie Yue Wai-man as Executive Director. Mr Yue will take over the post of Executive Director (Corporate Services) vacated by Mr Raymond Li Ling-cheung with effect from 1 July 2001. Mr Li will assume the new post of Executive Director (Banking Development) with effect from the same date.

As Executive Director (Banking Development), Mr Li will take charge of banking reform and developmental issues. He is well familiar with the subjects, since he was the Executive Director of the Banking Policy Department from 1996 before taking up his current post of Executive Director (Corporate Services) in September 2000.

Mr Yue will be responsible for matters relating to corporate development, human resources, administration, finance, information technology and training. Mr Yue began his career as an Administrative Officer in the Hong Kong Government in 1986. He joined the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in 1993 as a Senior Manager, and was subsequently promoted to Division Head in 1994. He has worked in a number of divisions, including Monetary Management, External Relations, and Banking Development, and is currently serving as Administrative Assistant to the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
