More Sponsorship Secured for WBG/IMF Annual Meetings

As the implementation agency of the 1997 World Bank Group/International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) continues to receive enthusiastic support from the private sector, with VTech Computers Systems Ltd sponsoring personal computers for the Meetings.

The HKMA and VTech Computers Systems Ltd signed a sponsorship agreement today. A total of 550 personal computers will be supplied by the company to meet the requirements stipulated by the World Bank Group and the IMF.

In addition, the HKMA has recently received cash sponsorship from Singapore Banks in Hong Kong, Malayan Banking Berhad and Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad. So far, $45 million in cash have been received as cash sponsorship. Sponsorship in kind is estimated to amount to $25 million.

The Annual Meetings will be held between 23 and 25 September 1997 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and its new Extension.
