Senior Systems Analyst (Database Specialist)

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is charged with the responsibility for maintaining the stability and integrity of the monetary and financial systems of Hong Kong.  There is now an excellent opportunity for eligible candidates to apply for the following position in the Hong Kong FMI Services Limited (HKFMI), a wholly owned subsidiary of the HKMA:

Senior Systems Analyst (Database Specialist)

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Design, develop, and manage databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability
  • Lead database migration projects, including schema upgrades, data migration, and system consolidation
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance to ensure high levels of uptime and responsiveness
  • Analyse, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution
  • Implement security and control requirements (e.g. authentication / authorisation, encryption, audit logging, key management considerations, data governance)
  • Collaborate with user divisions to collect business requirements
  • Collaborate with other IT teams on activities with common systems impacts
  • Participate in system design, capacity planning, and infrastructure architecture reviews
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor Systems Analysts

 

Requirements

 

  • University degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related fields, other relevant qualifications are preferred
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in system analysis and database administration, preferably in banking, payments, financial market infrastructure or other regulated environments
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL programming, and query optimization
  • Proven experience with enterprise database platforms (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Familiarity with open-source and emerging databases, such as PostgreSQL, TDSQL, OceanBase, and GaussDB, a plus
  • Hands-on experience with high availability, disaster recovery and data replication solutions
  • Understanding of data security, compliance, and auditing standards is required
  • Fluency in both written and oral English and Chinese, including proficiency in both Cantonese and Putonghua

  • Depending on the openings available, successful candidates may be appointed on HKFMI fixed contract terms
