香港金融管理局今日(4月30日)發表的統計數字顯示,整體存款在98年3月份繼續上升,但整體貸款和墊款則下跌。附表1列出3月份的摘要數字以及過去數月的比較數字。
存款
整體存款在98年2月份上升1.5%後,於3月份微升0.1%,其中港元存款繼2月份上升1.9%後,在3月份再上升1.5%,而外幣存款則下跌1.7%,扭轉2月份增加0.9%的情況。
3月份各類港元存款均告上升,其中港元往來存款上升5.2%,儲蓄存款上升4.6%,定期存款上升0.2%。港元存款增加,是因為區內金融市場已較為穩定。
外幣存款方面,美元存款在2月份微升0.3%後,於3月份下跌3.0%,而非美元外幣存款則繼2月份增加1.6%後,在3月份下跌0.1%。
貸款及墊款
整體貸款和墊款在3月份下跌6.7%。整體貸款和墊款下跌,主要是因為海外貸款收縮14.2%,特別是海外日圓貸款急劇下跌,這類貸款佔香港銀行體系貸款及墊款總額超過30%。海外日圓貸款由日資銀行在其本土分行借給在日本的客戶,但在這些銀行的海外分行入賬。客戶一般可因這種入賬方式得以減少稅務支出及融資成本。由於日資銀行採取比較審慎的貸款政策,以及需要縮小資產負債表規模,導致海外日圓貸款下跌速度加快,於本年度第一季收縮了23%。然而,海外日圓貸款的減少對香港的經濟活動和信貸的狀況影響不大,原因是香港只作為有關貸款的入賬中心。
另一方面,由於本地經濟活動放緩以及貸款需求減弱,在香港使用的貸款也微跌0.8%,其中貿易融資貸款下跌2.4%,其他貸款則下跌0.6。
港元貸款在3月份沒有變動,而外幣貸款則下跌11.9%。因此,港元貸存比率由2月底的113.0%下降至3月底的111.3%。
按主要經濟行業分類的在港使用貸款季度分析
由於銀行採取審慎的貸款政策,以及利率高企令貸款需求減弱,所以本地信貸在1998年第一季下跌1.2%。資產市場淡靜情況一致,住宅按揭貸款的增長幅度放緩至1.8%,而建造及物業發展與投資的貸款則下跌0.6%。同樣,對財務及金融有關公司和證券經紀的貸款也分別下跌0.9%和37.1%。在零售業表現呆滯的情況下,批發及零售業貸款下跌3.8%,扭轉上一季增加4.1%的情況。此外,製造業的信貸下跌2.7%,而貿易融資貸款則下跌5.7%。
貨幣供應
由於往來存款增加5.2%,抵銷了公眾人士持有現金的2.8%跌幅,所以港元貨幣供應M1於3月份增加1.6%。此外,港元貨幣供應M2和M3於是月同告上升1.3%。按截至3月份止的12個月計,港元貨幣供應M1下跌6.5%,但港元貨幣供應M2和M3則分別上升7.8%和7.5%,與名義本地生產總值增長率一致。
