The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is charged with the responsibility for maintaining the stability and integrity of the monetary and financial systems of Hong Kong. There is now an excellent opportunity for eligible candidates to apply for the following position:
Associate Fintech Director (Fintech Facilitation Office) – Fintech Policy and Strategy
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the policy and strategy direction of the HKMA’s fintech work, shaping the overall direction for key strategic areas under the HKMA’s Fintech 2030, in particular on payments, tokenisation, quantum technologies, and other emerging fintech priorities
- Provide strategic policy oversight to the Fintech Facilitation Office (FFO)’s key initiatives, including Project Ensemble, focusing on the broader policy implications and long-term strategic positioning for the development of the tokenisation market in Hong Kong
- Maintain close proximity to market developments and international fintech trends, providing high-level advice on policy responses and strategic initiatives
- Lead engagement with stakeholders, including international organisations, financial institutions, research institutions, and technology firms, to inform and advance FFO’s policy and strategy agenda
- Develop briefing materials, position papers, and strategic recommendations for FFO’s participation in international forums and cross-border collaborations
- Organise and lead key strategic events, including the annual Hong Kong FinTech Week, to promote thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, and international fintech collaboration
Requirements
- University degree in finance, business, law, public policy, financial technologyor related fields
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a multinational financial institution, regulatory body, or international organisation, with a strong focus in areas such as payments, tokenisation, digital assets, or emerging technologies
- Deep understanding of domestic and international fintech developments and policy issues relevant to the HKMA
- Proven ability to analyse complex market and international trends and translate them into actionable policy and strategy recommendations
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and a proven track record in managing multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritising tasks. Experience in organising large-scale events highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua a plus
(Candidates with less experience may be considered for an offer of appointment at Senior Officer or Officer level.)

- Appointment will be made on fixed contract terms
