CMU OmniClear Limited (CMU OmniClear) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Exchange Fund.  It carries out the operation and business development activities of the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) on behalf of the HKMA.  As part of the critical financial market infrastructure in Hong Kong, CMU is a central securities depository (CSD), providing secure and efficient clearing, settlement and custodian services for securities.  CMU OmniClear’s vision is to continuously enhance CMU service coverage, expand connectivity with other markets and upgrade the CMU infrastructure to provide market participants with comprehensive and quality services.

Senior Associate (China Desk)

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Monitor and handle daily operations of the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU), including the lodgement and settlement of debt securities, Bond Connect and fund order routing processes
  • Assist in project planning and execution, including defining project scope, objectives and timelines, and ensuring timely and successful delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to gather business requirements, monitor project milestones, identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Support the development and implementation of system enhancements; Coordinate and perform various testing activities such as UAT
  • Prepare Management Information System (MIS) reports, operating procedures and user guides, business contingency plans, etc.
  • Perform ad hoc duties and assignments by supervisor to support departmental goals

 

Requirements

 

  • University degree in finance, information technology or related fields
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in international or domestic securities settlement / back office operations
  • Familiarity with the settlement flows of central securities depositories (e.g., CMU, Euroclear, Clearstream) is a plus
  • Knowledge of local and overseas debt securities settlement systems, SWIFT Alliance and related workflows is preferred
  • Understanding of China market access, particularly in Bond Connect and Repo service, is a plus
  • Solid project planning, testing and implementation experience in banking/finance industry is highly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Chinese word processing, as well as Macro and VBA programming
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to details and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Excellent analytical skills and proactive in problem-solving
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage
  • Willingness to work in shifts, including outside normal office hours and under adverse weather conditions as required
  • Candidates with supplementary experience and qualifications will also be considered, even if they do not meet all of the specified requirements above

(Candidates with less experience may be considered for an offer of appointment at Associate level.)
