CMU OmniClear Limited (CMU OmniClear) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Exchange Fund.  It carries out the operation and business development activities of the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) on behalf of the HKMA.  As part of the critical financial market infrastructure in Hong Kong, CMU is a central securities depository (CSD), providing secure and efficient clearing, settlement and custodian services for securities.  CMU OmniClear’s vision is to continuously enhance CMU service coverage, expand connectivity with other markets and upgrade the CMU infrastructure to provide market participants with comprehensive and quality services.

Head of Network Management

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Have overall responsibility for management of CMU’s relationships with custody banks and Central Securities Depositories (CSDs)
  • As a newly established function within CMU, the Head of Network Management will be expected to build the Network Management team
  • Handle due diligence, contract negotiation and management, operational oversight and risk management across CMU’s network
  • Prospect for new network relationships and oversee their establishment as part of CMU’s commercialisation and product expansion strategy
  • Maintain a P&L and deliver on annual budget targets agreed with CMU’s Board of Directors
  • Lead and manage the channel management team for development and execution of client acquisition strategies, driving a robust sales pipeline and targeting key institutions for product adoption across priority markets
  • Build and expand strategic relationships with prospective members and clients, identifying their needs and aligning solutions to accelerate longboarding and engagement
  • Develop and implement the network management strategies to optimize the distribution of products and services, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives
  • Conduct market research to identify new network opportunities and assess the competitive landscape
  • Collaborate with other teams/departments to tailor go-to-market initiatives, support product position, and ensure commercial success of new offerings in line with overall business plans

 

Requirements

 

  • University degree is preferred
  • Ideally, at least 10-15 years of relevant experience in the securities services industry, or at a market infrastructure provider or bank
  • A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, managing a business unit with P&L responsibilities
  • Familiarity with financial markets, particularly in fixed income and equities products is beneficial
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with effective communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to negotiate and influence decisions at various management levels
  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and organizational priorities
  • A proactive mindset in identifying opportunities for channel development and improvement
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and conflicts within the channel
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English; proficiency in Chinese is preferable
  • Candidates with supplementary experience and qualifications will also be considered, even if they do not meet all of the specified requirements above
