Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Exchange Fund Investment Office)

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Exchange Fund Investment Office is responsible for the investment management of the Exchange Fund, and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. He is also answerable to and advises the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee and the senior management of the HKMA on investment-related matters. The specific responsibilities of this post include:

 

  • Formulate and oversee the implementation of overall investment strategy and strategic asset allocation for the Exchange Fund across multiple asset classes, including public and private market investments, ensuring full alignment with the Exchange Fund’s statutory purposes
  • Work closely with the risk and control function to maintain rigorous investment process and control for the Exchange Fund investments and ensure compliance with established internal policies and risk metrics
  • Manage and lead the investment team to institute proper risk culture, uphold high ethical standards, and drive continuous performance optimisation
  • Monitor portfolio performance, and assess macroeconomic and financial market developments with a view to making tactical adjustments where appropriate and assimilating the insight into investment decisions
  • Report and advise the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee and senior management on portfolio performance as well as key investment decisions
  • Develop and strengthen network with international and local investment community and stakeholders to gather market intelligence and project the HKMA’s image as an established and effective institutional investor
  • Share knowledge and insight within the organisation in support of the HKMA’s other key functions

 

Requirements

 

  • University degree, preferably in relevant disciplines
  • At least ten years of experience in a relevant field with extensive experience in managing large portfolios of assets
  • Good knowledge of financial markets
  • Strategic thinking with a strong team orientation
  • Excellent presentation skills and solid management experience
  • Good command of English and Chinese
