The Supervision of Cross-border Banking

The Basle Committee on Banking Supervision has released on 8 October a report on the Supervision of Cross-border Banking. With a view to ensuring the soundness of individual credit institutions and the stability of the financial system as a whole, the report contains recommendations which are aimed to strengthen the supervision of the cross-border operations of international banks.

The Basle Committee has requested national supervisors to supply copies of the report to their banks and other interested parties. I am, therefore, enclosing a copy of the report for your information.
