Joseph Yam's New Year Wishes

This year, I have composed a short Chinese rhyme to wish readers of this column all the best for the Year of the Pig. But I am afraid Chinese verse is very difficult to translate, so I will have to explain what the rhyme is about. The good wishes, of course, remain the same.

The rhyme notes that this year marks the tenth anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to the Mainland and is also the year when a new Government team will take over. It expresses the hope that with the guidance of that new team, we will reach new heights, and that Hong Kong's role as China's international financial centre will be strengthened.
