Christmas Quiz 2006

This year's Christmas Quiz (the eighth since Viewpoint began in 1999) introduces to readers some of the international organisations in which the HKMA participates or which it supports. Most, if not all, of these organisations are responsible for assessing and managing the risks affecting global or regional monetary and financial stability, a goal that fits well with the HKMA’s own policy objectives. The HKMA participates in some of these organisations as a member, while for others the HKMA plays a part in the participation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my colleagues in the HKMA involved in these organisations for their hard work.

Back to the Quiz. Readers are invited to match the names of seven selected international organisations with the brief descriptions that fit them. Obviously we have not listed all the organisations in which the HKMA participates. Readers can find the answers, and much other useful information, in the Guide to Hong Kong Monetary and Banking Terms (3rd edition) that the HKMA published in November. The Guide contains more than 200 terms relating to recent developments in Hong Kong’s monetary and banking sectors. It is available free of charge at the HMKA's website www.hkma.gov.hk, and a printed version can be purchased at the HKMA Information Centre located on 55/F, Two International Finance Centre.

Please fill in the answers and your contact details, and press the "submit" button before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday 31 December 2006 (Hong Kong time). You may also send your answers to us by fax (852) 2509-9159, by post, or even deliver them personally to our Information Centre. The first three correct entries will each receive a small prize.

Good luck, and a Merry Christmas to all of you!
