Hong Kong’s Latest Foreign Currency Reserve Assets Figures Released

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (Tuesday) that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$360.3 billion as at the end of May 2016 (end-April 2016: US$360.8 billion) (Annex).

There were no unsettled foreign exchange contracts at end-May and end-April 2016.

The total foreign currency reserve assets of US$360.3 billion represent over seven times the currency in circulation or about 48% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
