Hong Kong’s Latest Foreign Currency Reserve Assets Figures Released

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (Monday) that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$303.5 billion as at the end of September 2013 (end‑August 2013: US$303.9 billion) (Annex).

There were no unsettled foreign exchange contracts both at end-September and end-August 2013.

The total foreign currency reserve assets of US$303.5 billion represent over seven times the currency in circulation or about 51% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
