HKMA Quarterly Bulletin (March 2007 Issue)

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) today (Wednesday) published the March 2007 issue of its Quarterly Bulletin.

This Bulletin contains three feature articles:

  • Hong Kong dollar debt market development in 2006 - reviewing the Hong Kong dollar debt market.
  • Assessment of the euro payment system in Hong Kong - assessing Euro CHATS against the Bank for International Settlement's 10 Core Principles for Systemically Important Payment Systems.
  • Hong Kong's trade patterns and trade elasticities - examining the effect of a real depreciation of the Hong Kong dollar on Hong Kong's trade balance.

The Bulletin also includes a speech entitled "Three key challenges for macroprudential surveillance" given by Joseph Yam, Chief Executive of the HKMA, at the High-Level Meeting on the Implementation of Basel II in Asia and Other Regional Supervisory Priorities on 11 December 2006. The speech sets out the key challenges for macroprudential surveillance faced by central bankers and the ways to tackle them.

The Quarterly Bulletin may be ordered from the HKMA at $100 per copy. The Bulletin may also be bought at the HKMA Information Centre on 55th Floor, Two International Finance Centre.
