Five-day working week for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (27 June 2006) that it will implement a five-day working week for its staff with effect from 4 September 2006.

Following the implementation of a five-day working week, the HKMA Reception and the Information Centre will continue to be open on Saturday mornings. Opening hours, which remain unchanged, are as follows:

  • Reception - Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
    (except public holidays)
  • Information Centre - Monday to Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
    (except public holidays)

A spokesperson for the HKMA said that the total working hours of HKMA staff would remain unchanged after the introduction of a five-day working week, and no additional staff resources would be needed to implement the new arrangements.
