HKMA Quarterly Bulletin (December 2003 Issue)

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) today (Thursday) published the December 2003 issue of its Quarterly Bulletin.

In this issue the HKMA publishes its first Half-Yearly Monetary and Financial Stability Report. This report provides detailed description and analysis of the main factors, both external and domestic, that have a bearing on Hong Kong's monetary and financial stability. The report presents the HKMA's view of the main forces acting upon the Hong Kong economy, paying particular attention to the implications for the monetary and financial systems

The Half-Yearly Monetary and Financial Stability Report will continue to be published in future June and December issues of the Quarterly Bulletin. In these issues, three regular articles on the banking and monetary environment will be absorbed into the Half-Yearly Report.

This issue of the Quarterly Bulletin also contains feature articles on:

  • An Analysis of the Financial Health of Hong Kong Corporations - analysing the financial health of the corporate sector in Hong Kong by examining the evolution of major financial ratios of listed companies.
  • Recent Developments in Labour Earnings in Hong Kong - discussing the underlying developments in labour earnings in the past few years and examining some of the measurement issues.

In addition, the Bulletin carries a speech titled The Link: 20 Years On, and three Supervisor's Memo on Fit and Proper Assessment for Regulated Activities, Rescheduled Loans and Stress-testing.
