Tender for the Thirteenth Issue of
The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Note Issuance Programme

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announces that the tender for the thirteenth issue of the 2-year Notes issued by The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited (HKMC) will be held on Wednesday 12 April 2000.

An amount of HK$500 million HKMC Notes will be offered for settlement on Thursday 13 April 2000. The 2-year Notes, which will mature on 15 April 2002, will carry interest at the fixed rate of 6.40% per annum payable semi-annually in arrears. The terms and conditions of the issue are described fully in the Prospectus dated 15 October 1999 and the Supplemental Prospectus dated 3 April 2000.

The HKMC will use the proceeds to support its general working capital purpose.

The HK$500 million HKMC Notes issue is the thirteenth tranche of the HK$20 billion HKMC Note Issuance Programme in which the HKMA acts as the arranger, custodian, agent and operator. The HKMC Notes, which are denominated in HK$50,000 per Note, will be cleared through the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU). Each tender must be for an amount of HK$50,000 or integral multiples thereof.

Copies of the Prospectus, Supplemental Prospectus and the Application Form relating to the forthcoming issue are available for collection by the public at certain designated centres of Hang Seng Bank from 3 April 2000 on. The public may submit their tender applications using the Application Form or by giving electronic instructions through brokers or custodians who are participants of Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited ("Hongkong Clearing"), or directly through Hongkong Clearing if they hold Investor Accounts at the Hongkong Clearing. They may also tender for the Notes through any of the Market Makers or Recognised Dealers on the published list which can be obtained from the HKMA at 30/F., 3 Garden Road, Hong Kong (telephone 2878 8150). The application period for the Notes closes at 12:00 noon (for Application Form) and 3:45 pm (for electronic instruction) on 10 April 2000. The application by Recognised Dealers closes at 10:30 am on 12 April 2000.

The Notes will be issued to the Recognised Dealers and the public, and will be listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
