Phase I Open APIs

The banking sector has launched Phase I Open APIs by the end of January 2019. The information of the Open APIs can be found in the Data Studio of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, which provides a single point of reference of all the Open APIs offered by banks to facilitate access by third party service providers. If you have questions regarding the details of Open API functions, please contact the respective banks.

The target go-live dates of Phase II Open APIs

The target go-live dates of Phase II Open APIs provide an overview and indicative timeline for third party service providers and related parties to better plan for service offerings. When the Phase II Open APIs become available, their information will be listed in the Data Studio of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks. The banks will also provide the specifications of these Open APIs on their websites.

The details of the Open API implementation of individual banks are subject to their designs and latest plans. Different banks may also have variations in the coverage of Open APIs to the products or services under each category of Open API function. If you have questions regarding the details of Open API functions or their target go-live dates below, please contact the respective banks.

Core-banking functions

Core-banking Open API functions comprise the following:

Deposits

  • Process savings account opening request
  • Process current account opening request
  • Process time deposit creation request
  • Process foreign currency account opening request

Loans

  • Process credit card application request
  • Process mortgage loan application request
  • Process unsecured loan application request
  • Process secured loan application request

Other banking service

  • Process safe deposit box application
