The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) is charged with the responsibility for maintaining the stability and integrity of the monetary and financial systems of Hong Kong. 

CMU OmniClear Limited (CMU OmniClear) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Exchange Fund.  It carries out the operation and business development activities of the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) on behalf of the HKMA.  As part of the critical financial market infrastructure in Hong Kong, CMU is a central securities depository (CSD), providing secure and efficient clearing, settlement and custodian services for securities.  CMU OmniClear’s vision is to continuously enhance CMU service coverage, expand connectivity with other markets and upgrade the CMU infrastructure to provide market participants with comprehensive and quality services.

Senior Associate (Global Securities Operations)

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support daily operations of Global Securities Operations Department
  • Evaluate and enhance current business processes and create process maps and flowcharts to visualize improvements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design and validate solutions, define functional requirements, create business specifications and use cases; perform UAT
  • Support the design, implementation, and enhancement of financial platforms, ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • Identify potential risks and challenges, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure smooth project execution
  • Analyse existing workflows, recommend efficiency improvements, and implement best practices
  • Ensure projects adhere to financial regulations, data security policies, and risk management frameworks
  • Maintain project documentation, track progress, and provide regular updates to senior management
  • Work effectively with relevant collaborators for efficient project implementation

 

Requirements

 

  • University degree, preferably in business administration, information technology, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in a well-established financial organization
  • Previous experience in global securities operations supporting project implementation, business process optimization, or information systems within financial services
  • Knowledge in SWIFT ISO 15022; knowledge in SWIFT ISO 20022 is highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience in global securities operations including cash equity settlement, custody operations and cash management
  • Familiar with global securities & ICSD operations, including European and US markets
  • Knowledge of cash equity settlement and custody functions in HK and Asian markets is preferred
  • Positive mindset, highly self-motivated, organized with strong multitasking and time management skills
  • Ability to design, plan, and execute projects, ensuring scope, deliverables, timelines, and budgets are met
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and key executives
  • Experience in assessing and enhancing IT processes, identifying gaps, and implementing target state operating models
  • Ability to mentor junior employees, contribute to business development, and support proposal activities
  • Understanding of financial regulations, risk management, and operational efficiencies in platform development
  • Candidates with supplementary experience and qualifications will also be considered, even if they do not meet all of the specified requirements above

(Candidates with less experience may be considered for an offer of appointment at Associate level.)
