Granting of restricted banking licence to
Nippon Wealth Limited 

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today (Thursday) that the Monetary Authority has granted a restricted banking licence to Nippon Wealth Limited (NWL) under the Banking Ordinance.  The granting of this restricted banking licence takes effect today (2 April 2015). 

NWL is incorporated in Hong Kong.  NWL is a wholly owned subsidiary of OJBC Co. Limited and an associate of Shinsei Bank, Limited (Shinsei).  According to the July 2014 issue of The Banker, Shinsei ranked 12th in Japan in terms of Tier-1 capital. 

After the granting of a restricted banking licence to NWL, the number of restricted licence banks in Hong Kong is 23.
