Hong Kong’s Latest Foreign Currency Reserve Assets Figures Released

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (Friday) that the official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to US$331.3 billion as at the end of August 2014 (end‑July 2014: US$325.0 billion) (Annex).

There were no unsettled foreign exchange contracts at end-August 2014 (end-July 2014: US$0.9 billion). 

The total foreign currency reserve assets of US$331.3 billion represent over seven times the currency in circulation or about 49% of Hong Kong dollar M3.
