Granting of banking licence to LGT Bank in Liechtenstein AG

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced today (Friday) that the Monetary Authority has granted a banking licence to LGT Bank in Liechtenstein AG (LGTB) under the Banking Ordinance. The granting of this banking licence took effect on 14 April 2011.

LGT Bank in Liechtenstein Ltd.

LGT Banque de Liechtenstein S.A.

LGT Banca di Liechtenstein S.A.

LGTB is incorporated in the Liechtenstein. According to the July 2010 issue of The Banker, LGTB is the largest bank in Liechtenstein in terms of Tier-1 capital.

After the granting of a banking licence to LGTB, the number of licensed banks in Hong Kong has increased to 148.
