Fraudulent E-mails purporting to be related to Dah Sing Bank, Limited

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) wishes to alert members of the public to reports of certain fraudulent e-mails purporting to be issued by a senior executive of Dah Sing Bank, Limited. Typically, recipients of these emails were invited to participate in a fraudulent scheme to share an estate (of about US$35 million) of a deceased person and further details would be provided upon the response of the recipients.

The HKMA takes this opportunity to remind the public that these emails were not issued by any senior executive or authorised person of any authorized institution or its subsidiaries in Hong Kong. The bank concerned in this case has already reported the cases to the Hong Kong Police Force for investigation.

Anyone who receives fraudulent e-mails of this kind is advised to contact the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force (telephone number: 2860 5012).
